OtisindigO was founded on a cold, grey, yet cosy January afternoon in North London with the longing for a serene, peaceful sanctuary in a fast-paced world.
The philosophy behind OtisindigO is that beauty lies in the simplest of things. So my vision was to create homewares with a beautiful simplicity to them; free from fuss.
"Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away"
- Antoine de Saint-Exupery,
I work with both concrete and clay and like the contrast between the industrial, instantaneous, cool properties of concrete and the softer, malleable qualities that come with clay.
Each and every one of my wares is made individually by hand and they reflect this story in their unique, rustic surfaces.
There is an old Japanese phrase, Wabi Sabi, which acknowledges with peaceful acceptance the beauty of imperfection.
"There is a crack in everything and that is how the light gets in".
I hope you love my products as much as I love making them.
